TRIP ITINERARY TO PARIS AND NORMANDY

                                            Day 1-2
Transatlantic flight to Paris, France. When you arrive in Paris, you will be greeted at the airport by a bilingual representative for a transfer to your hotel. Have dinner in the Latin Quarter this evening. B


                                     
Day 3
You are on your own today to visit the Centre Georges Pompidou, l'Orangerie, the Rodin, Picasso, Musee Eugene Delacroix, or vauious other small museums. Take time to wander through the Luxembourg Gardens. Enjoy an evening Bateaux Mouches ride on the Seine. B

                                                  Day 4
Visit the Opera Garnier. If it is open, try to see the ceiling painted by Chagall. Take a short train ride to the Versailles Chateau, home of Louis XIV, the "Sun King". Visit the Royal Apartments and Hall of Mirrors in this building where the Treaty of Versailles was signed, confirming the independence of the United States in 1783. Then, enjoy a walk through the gardens to the Apollo Basin and to the Grand Trianon. Return to Paris for the evening. B

 
                         Day 5
Visit the Musee d'Orsay in the morning. In the afternoon, climb the Eiffel Tower for a magnificent view of Paris. Then, stroll along the Seine river to the Ile de la Cite to visit the bird market and Notre Dame. Enjoy dinner and spend the evening in the trendy Les Halles district.  B/D

                                                

                                                     Day 6
You are on your own to explore Paris today.In the morning, consider visiting the flea markets at the Porte de St. Ouen or the Porte de Clignancourt, where you will find good deals on rummage from all over Paris. Consider visiting Pere Lachaise Cemetery where Jim Morrison, among others, is buried. Explore the Ile St. Louis or the Marais quarter before dinner on your own. B

 

                                          Day 7
Take a guided tour of the Louvre Museum. Exit through I.M. Pei's glass pyramid and walk along the Tuileries Garden. Cross the Place de la Concorde wher Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette met their end. Walk up the Champs Elysees to Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe. If time permits, visit the small museum there and get a glimpse of Paris from the top of the Arc. Enjoy dinner. You are on your own this evening to visit Montmartre's artistic quarter and the Sacre Coeur Balilica. B/D


                                                  
Day 8
Depart early in the morning for Chartres to see the imposing cathedral. Then, drive to Normandy this afternoon for a guided visit of Mont St. Michel. Dinner this evening at the hotel in Dinard.

                                                   Day 9
Visit the invasion beaches of Normandy, including Omaha Beach. Then, go to Bayeux, famous for their tapestries. Walk around Bayeux and have dinner on your own this evening. B

               

                                         Day 10
Return to Paris, via the Monet gardens at Giverny. Enjoy dinner and overnight at the airport hotel. B/D

 

                                 Day 11
Transfer to the airport for your transatlantic flight home. B
